About Q&A
Queer and Asian at San Jose State University (Q&A SJSU) is a non-profit student organization. Q&A originated in fall 2009 and is designed to encourage students to raise positive awareness of queer, and pan-Asian communities in the SJSU campus. Q&A is not only limited to Queer and API students but welcomes students of all: ethnicities, ages, gender identities, sexes, sizes, species, sexual orientations, religions, classes, and handicapableness (etc) to the general meetings and events that have interest in Q&A culture and lifestyle. Also, the ambiguous nature of Q&A’s name provides confidentiality of affiliation for its members’ safety.
Q&A’s primary goals are to reach out and provide a safe space to come together to interact, learn, discuss issues, and to provide relief and encouragement for its members. Q&A works with students to develop their awareness of the social, communal, and cultural dynamics and help members find balance between queer community and Asian communities.
Moreover, Q&A is not only a club, but is an organization that encourages each of its members to find and form strong bonds of friendship, familial ties, local networking, and kindred spirits among the Q&A community. Q&A hopes to open doors for students to come together and find common ground for each other’s cultures and beliefs. Q&A strongly believes that with the dedication of its members, officers, and local network contacts, we can all make a difference in building a stronger and brighter tomorrow for equality.
