What up Q&A readers!?
If you are looking for a place to learn about the queer community and its issues, meet new people from the queer community, and social network with other queer community organizations, then Conferences of the queer sort are the ones for you!
So not too long ago Q&A caught wind of a new conference called Queer Yo’ Mind hosted by San Francisco State University’s students, faculty, and staff on Saturday, October 15, 2011 and is also COMPLETELY FREE TO ATTEND (JUST GOTTA PRE-REGISTER).
So what is Queer Yo’ Mind? So here are some words from QYMCon.
Queer Yo’ Mind, organized by a committee of students, faculty and staff at San Francisco State University with many co-sponsors, will be held October 15th, 2011 from 9 am-4 pm.
Queer Yo Mind is a FREE conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and straight allies (LGBTQQI) dedicated to unite and provide educational opportunities for students, staff, and general community members about issues and topics surrounding the LGBTQQI community.
This conference also seeks to foster community and leadership for LGBTQQ students on and off campus as well as promoting allyship for those who want to expand their knowledge and consciousness. Also, this space needs to be accessible for all folks, so some participants have requested that it be scent-free, so please refrain from using colognes, perfumes, and the like. If you’d like more information please let us know!
(Here is a website giving a few guidelines on how to be scent free: http://www.peggymunson.com/mcs/fragrancefree.html).

QYMCon bolds three words; Leadership - Diversity - Unity, which are strong progressive words for the LGBTQQIIAAPPF etc community. So props for SFSU creating the 1st Queer Yo’ Mind conference.
Hope to see you all there!
